Story Continuation Story Continuation This rubric will assess students ability to effectively continue a story. The continuation must be a minimum two typed pages, Times New Roman, 12 font. Continuation length	Needs Improvement Story continuation is less than 1 typed page.	Satisfactory Story continuation is 1 typed page or not typed.	Very Good Story continuation is 1 1/2 typed pages.	Excellent Story continuation is 2 or more typed pages
Student uses text for support	Needs Improvement Does not use any text to support prediction.	Satisfactory Uses some text to support prediction but more detail is needed, or text evidence does not support prediction.	Very Good Uses adequate text evidence to support prediction.	Excellent Uses and incorporates sufficient text evidence to support prediction and develop an appropriate conclusion to the continuation.
Prediction	Needs Improvement The writer does not touch on the lesson that has been learned or a central theme or idea.	Satisfactory The writer's response does not have a clear lesson that the main character learned or a central theme or idea.	Very Good The writer's response is a good plan that includes much of what the main character has learned or a central theme or idea.	Excellent The writer's response is a logical strategy that incorporates what the main character has learned or a central theme or idea.
Character	Needs Improvement The character does not relate to the story.	Satisfactory The character is inconsistent with the story.	Very Good With some accuracy, the writer represents the main character.	Excellent Writer accurately represents the main character.
Proof Reading	Needs Improvement There are numerous errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation that hinder the comprehension of the story.	Satisfactory There are some errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation, but they do not hinder comprehension.	Very Good There are a few errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation, but they do not hinder comprehension.	Excellent There are no errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation.
