Mexican Sun Mirrors - 7th grade Mandalas - 7th grade In this lesson, the students learned about the Mexican Sun Mirror.They then created their own unique sun mirror using heavy gauged foil and adding color with a choice of markers, craypas, or construction paper crayons and markers. Design	Poor Copied from only resource material.	Fair Copied mostly from resource material with one or two changes	Good Used resource material, but made various changes to create own design. Clearly time taken to plan out.	Excellent Viewed resource materials for inspiration only. Was able to create own unique design with no visible resemblance to resource materials. No other like it in class.
Craftsmanship	Poor Skill level of all mediums very low. Sloppily done.	Fair More time was given in use of media, but still had problems in filling in spaces with sand and mixing crayons, pencil. pens, and glitter glue.	Good Skill level is on grade level. Student's use of media was very good with exception of a few places which need some extra added time.	Excellent Student's media skill level is exceptional. All media used is done with great time and care. Nothing could be added or taken away to improve the art work.
Color	Poor Colors blend together with no real evidence of contrast. No thought given to use of color.	Fair Some thought given to how colors work, but with minimal contrast.	Good Color was thought out with emphasis on contrast and the use of some type of color theory.	Excellent Student shows clear skill in use of complimentary colors or dark and light colors while creating added contrast of some areas coming forward and others going back by the use of the different textured colored media.
foil design	Poor Design on foil has no connection to outer design. No thought was given in connecting the two designs.	Fair Design on foil has a slight correlation to outer design, but added detail on foil would of improved overall design.	Good Foil design and outer design show a thought out process where the student tried to express his/her own personal an unique personality using some details.	Excellent Foil design and outer design show a thought out process where the student firmly expressed his/her own personal and unique personality using advanced details.
