Kitchen Design Presentation 
Students will design a functional and aesthetically pleasing kitchen space based on client surveys and architectural plans provided. They will then create presentation boards and present their ideas through the use of design statements and NKBA Presentation Standards to the class and answer questions when finished.

2) Materials chosen meet client wishes and durability for family use
3) Statement addresses all client comments, concerns, and wishes.

All pertinent client information has been taken into consideration in this design including: cooking/entertainment habits, primary use for the room, storage and appliance preferences, and overall design preferences.

Points based on assessment

Project is complete with all elements including: Cabinetry layout, elevations, mechanical/const plan, and detail drawings. Cabinet options, appliances, flooring, coutertops, lighting,and hardware to be covered using color board. A brief description of budgetary concerns (actual numbers not necessary) should address survey concerns. Colorboard with samples, pics and specs.

Project shows unique insight into problem solutions, client needs, and construction challenges. Aesthetically pleasing and interesting use of materials and appliances.
5-Design Statement
10 pts

1) Drawings are clear and reflect written design intent
2) Written statement clearly identifies major goals for layout

Points based on assessment

Written statement must be easy to follow and read. It must clearly outline the wants, needs and concerns of the client. It must explain construction challenges and reasoning for choice of materials. It must be short and concise while being cohesive.
6-colorboard

1) Actual product samples to be represented.
2) Color pictures of appliances, fixtures, doors and hardware included
3) Neat and unique layout of materials to back up design intent.

Points based on assessment

All examples are included: countertops, flooring, appliances, hardware, fixtures, doorstyles, cabinet styles and any other materials pertinent to individual project. The board will be clean and well-maintainted, on a vivid and interesting background with potential for sample removal during presentation (if necessary).
7-Design Intent
1 pts

1) drawings reflect design intent as specified in design statement
2) Samples and suggestions are in keeping with the design intent

Points based on assessment

All aspects of design reflect a clear and cognitive direction for new kitchen layout and is expressed clearly in all three project areas: drawings, boards/materials, statements.
7-Overall Presentation
10 pts

1) Drawings and color boards explained effectively
2) Confidence in design and person
3) Proper personal presentation

Points based on assessment

Well designed, original with all necessary info and graphics that back up the design intent. Overall presentation should be clear, concise and no longer than 20 minutes. All visual aids should be tidy and clearly visible. Presenter should be neat in appearance and exude confidence in self and plan.
