Sketch to Stretch- Activity Components of Culture
Students will know homework expectations which would include completeness, accuracy, requirements, legibility and time management. Students will draw a picture of some component of their subculture representative of their ethnic group. Below the picture they will explain how or why this drawing is a part of their culture. All drawings must be colored, writing legible, and neat.

The Great Emancipator Brochure
The students will conduct a comparative analysis of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. After researching the actions of both men, they will create a brochure describing the efforts of each and forming their own opinion of who is the "Great Emancipator" of African Americans.

At the crossroads of freedom and equality timeline
The students will put together an electronic presentation to show during their oral presentation. The presentation will contain information that the students collected regarding events that took place from 1863 to 2013 in relation to blacks and civil rights in America.
