Comprehension Story Questions

This lab is designed assess student's comprehension of the troubleshooting process with regards to common computer problems. Student gathering information for trouble ticket, research, apply resolution, and documentation. Technical Professionalism.

This assessment is used to grade students on their ability to properly perform the various tasks involved in selecting and installing the appropriate version of Microsoft Windows and configuring the PC for use.

Students must demonstrate basic PC skills by saving documents, launching the internet, use popular search engines to locate topics and save a website to favorites.

This lab will determine a student's competency with taking a computer apart, putting it back together and testing to make sure that the PC works properly.

Introductory Computer Project Rubric (Diagrams and Descriptions)

(20 POINTS - 4 points each section) Below is a chart that shows you exactly how your class participation grade will be determined. All students are expected to participate in class! If a student is absent, s/he loses points on the punctuality grade rubric also.

I do understand that some students are shy and participate in ways other than class discussion. Forms of participation other than participating in class discussion (although this is a primary form of participation) include coming to me for extra help, giving other students feedback in class, adhering to the no-voice and no-phone rule, consistent attendance, and being able to answer in-class ASL dialogue from both the teacher and other students. NOTE: If you get to the point of having a fair/poor participation grade in one or more areas, it will probably be recommended that you withdraw from the class, as you probably will not be able to keep up with the material. If a student is absent, s/he losts points on the punctuality grade rubric also.

You will choose a business that you will research. Your research will examine, in detail, the type of business (proprietorship, partnership or corporation), its size and estimated gross and net earnings per year, as well as what the business does and how it affects the economy around it.

Students develop a business plan for a retail or service business that will be shared with the class. Each student had the choice of what type of Business Ownership their company would have. Students were given the areas that were to be addressed in their business plan.

Student folder must be ready and independently taken when going off-campus to seek employment.

Students are to create a timeline (can be horizontal, vertical, diagonal, etc) concerning important events pertaining to the development of the computer and transformation in to other technology devices from the 1800's to present and beyond. There should be no less than 15 items on the timeline. Students are to include pictures that they believe represent the events on their timeline, description of the event (its significance to tech world), as well as website url the sources were obtained from.

SLO Course Description: Students should be proficient in managing computer operations and file storage; preparing simple documents and other business communications; accessing and navigating the Internet; searching for information and resources using the Internet; using e-mail to communicate with others and to share files and documents.

Students must demonstrate basic computer skills by turning on the computer, using a mouse, logging in, and developing a password.

Collect two computer ads from your local paper or store sales paper. Attach the ads on colored paper with a comparison table below it. Fill out each section of the comparison table. Based on your comparisons, type a short paragraph (in Microsoft Word) explaining which computer you would purchase and why.

This rubric helped grade a 4-page research paper completed by my CGS 2100 Computer Fundamentals and Apllications class. Its purpose is to research components and price comparison in order to build a personal computer.

In this project you will go online and look for computer parts to build a computer. Create a PowerPoint slide show using 10 slides. Each slide needs a description of the part as well the price. The description must contain data that describes the capabilities of the each part. Slide 1 of the presentation should be an introduction . The next 8 slides will be the individual computer components. The final slide should be an overview of the computer you have built, including the total cost.
