This rubric can be used to assess students' ability to dissect owl pellet, ability to answer questions regarding the dissection, and ability to identify what animal the owl ate.

Students are to design an experiment which can be conducted in the classroom. Projects must include a problem, hypothesis, research, step by step experiment instructions and a method to display data. Students state their conclusion explaining if the experiment supported their hypothesis. Students also discuss what this experiment might lead them to research next.

Understanding how mass and length of the fetus changes within a 38 week time frame.

Students practice applying their understanding of the compound light microscope to draw a prepared specimen. Students are then asked to assess the functions of a compound light microscope to create a simulation of a specimen, students are asked to draw the specimen to scale and determine the total magnification.

State Mandated Living Environment Science Lab

Each student will write a (3-5 double-spaced pages) research paper on a topic concerning a health issue related to nutrition (e.g., diabetes, obesity, beriberi, etc). This must be an approve topic beforehand. Your paper needs to include a references citing at least 5 sources in MLA or APA Format. Paper is due on Monday, Nov. 16 (5 points will be taken off for everyday it will late *weekend counts**)

I must approve topics beforehand. Your paper needs to include a references citing at least 5 sources (3 peer-reviewed) in APA Format.

Student can either show the positive or negative qualities of students participating in Dodge ball in physical education class. Students must find articles that support his or her feeling. The paper needs to be at least three pages (typed). Student needs to be able to pull out relevant information and put it into his or her own words (any kind of plagiarism results in a zero for the project.) Paper is due on April 6 (5 points will be taken off for everyday it will late *weekend count**)
