To analyze and evaluate case studies related to organizational communication and apply course concepts to them.

The student will develop a performance problem case that he or she is currently experiencing. Once the performance problem situation is properly defined, the student will then apply the subject matter learned in class to create a plan of action to deal with the performance problem. The purpose is to emphasize the problem analysis process and have the student utilize critical thinking skills. The case is based on 100% which will convert to 100 points.

Rubric for evaluating case analysis

Students will provide concise answers to content-based questions about the lesson. They will follow the format provided and use examples for support.

This rubric will be used to evaluate the team role-play presentation.

Students will play the part of a cabinet level official who is sending out an executive branch memo to the president. The memo should be well-formatted and organized, free of grammatical and spelling errors, and explain the crisis and their department's role.

The students will be graded on their collaborative skills within the group. Each member has an assigned role and task to work on and bring into the group as a whole.

Write a Formal letter to the Prime Minister of Canada. Remember to correctly use and punctuate all the parts of the letter.

Research an actual company's strategic plan and write a report detailing the following: -explain the strategic and operational plans of the company -identify the major components of the plan (sustainable competitive advantage, scope, and resource allocation) -find the mission statement -create a SWOT analysis of the company -explain the role of IT in the strategic plan.

Write a Formal letter to the Prime Minister of Canada. Remember to correctly use and punctuate all the parts of the letter.

A proposal written to a supervisor or purchasing authority in our Business Communications class that includes formatting a brief memo-style document into sections with 1.5 spacing, 1" margins and a data chart showing the comparisons and cost involved in the proposal. Mild research is necessary to complete the background before writing this document.
