Sociology 101 is an introduction to sociology that is designed to show the connection and purpose for an individual in society. This course also explains to us the different perspectives of societies influences. Sociology 101 also uses three major theoretical approaches throughout the course to explain the function of society.
I chose this essay because I learned a lot from "the vicious circle" of prejudice and discrimination from our sociology book. I can also relate with the stages of the circle from my personal experience with relationships. I feel that we are all guilty of prejudice at some point. This can be hightened due to our geographic placement in the South but I also feel that it can be something that we choose to avoid. I never realized that there were different stages of prejudice and discrimination that contribute to the whole cycle. After understanding how it works it all began to make sense and seemed so true. Now that we have learned about this cycle, it is up to us to make the decision wether we will join the progress of it or prevent it from happening.
