2006     Feb-March         Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) Therapist

-         Worked with a four-year old high functioning Autistic boy,     using the ABA program designed by Integrated Education                  Communication (IEC).

 

             April- June          Undertook placement as part of course requirement for                                        Masters of Educational Psychology

-         Worked in two primary schools (Malvern Central Primary School, Malvern Primary School) and a secondary school (Elwood College)

-   Tasks undertaken:

ð     Provided assistance to supervisor, during consultation with student’s parents, teachers and vice-principals, discussed various issues surrounding some of the students, such as the following:

-         School refusal

-         Family conflict

-         Lack of social skills

ð     Assisted the supervisor in carrying out various types of cognitive and behavoural assessments (e.g., WISC-IV and Vineland).

ð     Made observations of students, experiencing learning difficulties, due to Autism, Asperger’s syndrome, and Somatic-Pragmatic Disorders.

: In particular, their communication and social skills, both in and out of classroom settings, were noted.
