Words From My Colleagues
I get to observe her teaching daily.  I am always amazed at how engaged her students are.  She uses writing prompts that the students can relate to; she uses books that they really enjoy reading, and she treats each student as an individual, with his/her own potential and expectations.  She is a natural!  Rod McGuire, co-teacher, 37-year teacher

Rachal is a great organizerand able to multitask beautifully. She has developed interesting lessons that encompass several learning objectives at one time. Students in her classes know what is expected of them and eagerly participate in the learning activities.

Sheila Payne, Third Grade

Rachal is a real "go-getter"! She will jump right in and take on a project. Her students are always actively engaged. They are learning while doing hands-on, fun projects!

Chrys McClung, Reading Recovery, Eureka Springs Elementary School

I have observed Rachal model a curriculum for literacy. Her explicit instruction sets high standards for staff and students.  Rachal provides the teaching skills needed in the classroom of today preparing students for the world of tomorrow. She is eager to take on this challenge.  Rachal presents herself as a skilled and capable professional offering a fluid environment for learning. Her conscientious effort for excellent report with staff, parents, students, and administration is very appreciated.

Donna Kesner, Literacy Coach

I have worked with Mrs. Hyatt for two years and have found her to be not only a spectacular teacher, but also a valuable resource for teaching ideas dealing with anything from lessons to ways to address a student’s special need. She is a definite asset to our school.

Jennifer Roach, Third Grade

Rachal seems to make teaching fun and exciting, not only for her students, but also for her self.  Rachal is one of those rare teachers that has a natural ability to teach and to inspire her students to reach for the sky.  Rachal has been able to create a classroom environment that is highly conducive to student learning. The room is charged with excitement for learning, and that has made all the difference.
