"As they went on describing the school, it seemed to me it must be the greatest place on earth . . . I resolved at once to go to that school, although I had no idea where it was, or how many miles away, or how I was going to reach it; I remembered only that I was on fire with one ambition. . . "

-Booker T. Washington, Up From Slavery, 1901, p. 32-33

Welcome to My Instructional Portfolio!

Booker T. Washington's description of his quest for education coming out of slavery best expresses my feelings about education throughout my life. Education is where life is, freedom is, light is; it is an ongoing quest for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, with a good portion of the enjoyment coming from the colorful journey, or as Alice Walker calls it, "the search for our mother's (flower) gardens." Gleeming and beckoning, the quest for education is a male and female quest equally, and moments of enlightenment-- however large and however small--are to be treasured.

On this webpage, you will find the Instructional Portfolio that I created. My Instructional Portfolio contains:

  • my teaching philosophy
  • my teaching method
  • my classes with sample student work
  • my student evaluations
  • my peer evaluations
  • my annotated teaching bibliography of my reading
  • my current and future projects.

This Instructional Portfolio is intended to be an ongoing project. You are invited whether you are a student or educator to check back to share and review the material on this site.

Hope to see you soon!
