My Biography

My background and family history is unique because my parents never attended high school, and I was the first person in my family to receive a college degree.  Even though I faced challenges going to college later in life, I managed yto receive excellent grades. 

I grew up in St. Cloud, Minnesota in a family of four.  I have one younger brother who lives in South Dakota.  Growing up in Minnesota gavew me an excelent educational background because Minnesota has some of the finest schools in the country.  The schools in Minnesota are on the leading edge of new ideas and theories in education. 

Throughout the years, I have held several part-time positions and worked as a full-time parent with my two children.  I helped some middle school teachers as a volunteer, grading papers and helping students with their work. 

In a few short years, I have attended and graduated from college, operated my own business, obtained a job working for the legislature, while attending college and working toward my master's degree in special education.  I have enjoyed working as a middle school resource teacher the last three years. 

My hobbies are playing the piano.  I am also learning to play the violin.  Other activites I enjoy include walking, swimming, gardening, and going to garage sales.  I love comedy and my favorite television personality is Jerry Seinfeld.  My favorite musicians are James Taylor and Alan Jackson.  I love all types of music and enjoy attending concerts.

I love working with my students and learn so much from them every day.  I love challenges and have enjoyed working in the middle school the last three years and discovering the world of teaching!
