Microsoft FrontPage 2003

 

    Microsoft FrontPage 2003 is developed by Microsoft to be used with Microsoft Windows and Macintosh Operating System. Microsoft FrontPage 2003 has a built-in support for automated web templates.  These web templates contain an automatic navigation system that creates animated buttons for pages that have been added by the user. 

    These web templates also creates a multi-level navigation system on the fly using the buttons and the structure of the web site.  Front page has a built-in image editor, point-and-click functions, integrated data display, CSS-based themes, and rich clipboard data import.

    Despite all the positive aspects, other editors are preferred over FrontPage for managing medium to large corporate websites.  Also, the user interface hides the HTML properties.  Moreover, the java mouse over effects are capable of crashing the web browser.

 

 

Nvu

    

    Nvu is developed to be used with Linux, Windows, and Macintosh operating systems.  It uses WYSIWYG editing of pages, and has file management through FTP, can jump between WYSIWYG Editing Mode and HTML using tabs, these tabs also make working on multiple pages easier, and Nvu supports forms, tables, and templates.

    The negative side of using Nvu is that the validator has a bug that breaks IFrame?s SRC attribute by adding an extra .htm to the end of it.  This HTML validator is called the W3C?s Validator. 

 

 

Web Dwarf

 

    Web Dwarf is also a drag and drop editor, it includes a built in graphics creation functionality so you can draw inside the window.  Web Dwarf also has snap-to grid, snap-to tabs, and many more different layout options to choose from.  It also has a word processor format text editor which makes it rather convenient.  Web Dwarf can publish in the form of HTML or SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics).  And it also has a FTP feature like the other ones.  Last but not least, Web Dwarf does not include any spyware or adware.

    The negative side of Web Dwarf is that you can only make one page sites, can?t round the corners on certain shapes, and some of the objects that you insert might become hidden because they are overlapped.  Also, you cannot add music or metatags to the webpages.
