What is an ePortfolio?
The notion of the portfolio is consistent with Boyer's (1990) concept of 'scholarship of teaching' in that it reflects a systematic, evidence-based, carefully thought-out approach to maintaining and improving the quality of student learning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EPortfolio
Designing an ePortfolio
Before you start, think seriously about its
- purpose
- audience
- metrics
- shelf-life
- format
- artefacts
An example:
Constructing an ePortfolio on my SCUBA diving
Purpose: Just in case I want to change jobs, could add this to my CV
Audience: Self, and possible future employers
Metrics: PADI certification standards
Shelf-life: on-going
Format: online
Artefacts: log book, photos
