Relate reading to assignment	Poor Students do not recognize relationship between the story and the lesson plan.	Fair The students recognize the similarities between the story and the assignment but do not fully use the resources from the story.	Good Students completely understand the correlation between the story and the assignment and use the story as a resource for ideas to benefit the project.
Utilizing the Materials	Poor Students do not pay attention to the story and did not attempt to experiment with the materials and utilize them.	Fair Students listen to the story and attempt to utilize the materials but do not complete the assignment entirely.	Good Students actively listen to the story and are able to experiment and explore the materials to complete assignment.
Communicate ideas in visual form	Poor Students do not express their ideas through form and therefore do not complete a snowman.	Fair Students experiment with materials but do allow oneself to completely explore the materials and expand ideas.	Good Students fully explore materials and allow themselve to utilize creativity and expand on further ideas than practical snowmen characteristics.
