Describing the Water Cycle Task: Our class has been studying the water cycle.Students described the water cycle in their own words using water cycle terms like Evaporation,Condensation, Precipitation and Runoff/Groundwater. Description	Excellent Student accurately described the parts of the water cycle in the correct order,using all of the terms . Student used his/her own words to explain the process. Student gave additional information about the water cycle.	Very Good Student described the water cycle accurately in the correct order,using the correct terms. Student uses most of his own words to explain the process.	Need Improving Student describes the water cycle including some of the terms. Many of the words are copied from the text and student does not paraphrase.	Unsatisfactory Student was unable to accurately describe the water cycle. He/She does not describe the process accurately,and/or all of the words are copied from the text.
Grammar,Mechanics and Punctuation	Excellent The student wrote with complete sentences using correct grammar and punctuation.	Very Good Most of the students sentences were complete sentences and were written grammatically correct.	Need Improving Many of the students' sentences are incomplete and are not grammatically correct. The writing writing contains many errors.	Unsatisfactory The student was unable to write in complete sentences.Most of the sentences are not grammatically correct. The writing contains many errors
