Learning about Lines Learning about Lines Students will identify different qualities of lines in artworks and in their world. They will learn directional lines (vertical, diagonal, horizontal) and expressive lines (zigzag, looping, spiral, dotted, curvy, jagged, cross-hatched, wavy, broken, etc.). Knowledge of Concepts	Poor The student is unable to recognize any directional lines or expressive lines.	Fair The student is able to recognize some directional and expressive lines.	Good The student is able to recognize all directional lines and expressive lines.
Production	Poor The student's work does not demonstrate an understanding of lines. Lines were copied off the board, but clarity of understanding not achieved.	Fair The student's work demonstrates an understanding of some lines. The student drew lines on their artwork.	Good The student's work demonstrates a strong understanding of lines. All directional lines were used and the majority of expressive lines. Lines were incorporated into a thought out design.
Effort	Poor The student did not complete work and proper care was not given to materials.	Fair The student finished work, but it lacks finishing touches or could be improved upon with effort. Student showed proper care and respect of materials.	Good The student finished work and gave an effort beyond the requirements of the project. Materials were properly cared for and respected.
Analysis	Poor Has trouble picking out the concept.	Fair Describes some lines but has difficulty describing in detail.	Good Accurately describes different types of lines in detail.
