Detail Sentences	Excellent Paragraph has three or more descriptive details. Many characteristics of the rock are described.	Good Paragraph has three details. Some characteristics of the rock are described.	Fair Paragraph uses less than three details. Few characteristics of the rock are described.	Poor Paragraph has few details. Less than two characteristics of the rock are presented.
Concluding Sentences	Excellent The paragraph has a clear, interesting, concluding sentence that restates the topic sentence.	Good The paragraph has a concluding sentence that relates to the topic sentence.	Fair The paragraph does not have a concluding sentence that relates to the topic sentence.	Poor The paragraph has no concluding sentence or does not relate to the topic sentence in any way.
Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling	Excellent Paragraph has no errors in punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.	Good Paragraph has one or two punctuation, capitalization, and spelling errors.
