Political Cartoon Political Cartoon Students will make a political cartoon to represent their viewpoint(s) of Reconstruction. Cartoon must include elements typically found in a political cartoon. Comprehension	Poor Student has very little understanding about Reconstruction. Their message is not clear or does not make sense.	Fair Student somewhat understands Reconstruction. Their purpose is clear but weak.	Good Student clearly understands Reconstruction evident in their cartoon. They make a strong statement.
Content	Poor Student made up the cartoon without any factual basis and/or no political cartoon element is present. Did not seem to consciously use any of the five elements for political cartoons discussed in class.	Fair Student used opinions or feelings about the issue rather than actual information for the basis of their cartoon and hinted toward a political cartoon element. Used at least one of the elements discussed in class.	Good Student used actual information found during research and observation and included at least 2 of the 5 political elements discussed in class.
Originality	Poor Uses other people's ideas (giving them credit), but there is little evidence of original thinking.	Fair Product shows some original thought. Work shows new ideas and insights.	Good Product shows a large amount of original thought. Ideas are creative and inventive.
Grammer	Poor Four misspellings and/or grammatical errors.	Fair Three or fewer misspellings and/or mechanical errors.	Good No misspellings or grammatical errors.
