Inference Inference Students will infer (using their background knowledge and specific clues from the scene what has taken place in the classroom. This will be assessed through the students ability to use the inferring equation BK+C=I (Background Knowledge + Clues = Inference). Students create two columns in their journal - Clues and Meaning. Clues	Poor Does not use the clues or uses the clues inappropriately to draw an inference	Fair Draws conclusions or makes predictions that are consistent with the clues	Good Explains the source of the conclusions or predictions
Graphic Organizer and Paragraph	Poor Does not complete the graphic organizer column or paragraph	Fair Includes the graphic organizer columns and attempts paragraph, however, one or both are not completed	Good Completes both graphic organizer and paragraph
Grammar	Poor There are more than 4 errors in grammar	Fair There are less than 4 errors in grammar	Good There are less than 2 errors in grammar
