Audience has difficulty following presentation because student jumps around.

May not be applicable for students writing a traditional book report or play

Student uses superfluous graphics or no graphics

Student occasionally uses graphics that rarely support the presentation.

Voice Volume

Can include volume and speed of speech in any presentation format

Level 1

Student mumbles, incorrectly pronounce terms, and speaks too quietly for students in the back of class to hear.
Level 2

Student's voice is low. Audience members have difficulty hearing presentation.
Student incorrectly pronounces terms.
Level 3

Student's voice is clear. Student pronounces most words correctly. Most audience members can hear the presentation.
Level 4

Student uses a clear voice and correct, precise pronunciation of terms so that all audience members can hear the presentation.
Eye Contact

May not be applicable if the students present a video or play

Level 1

Student never looks at the audience.
Level 2

Student rarely looks at the audience and blocks his/her face with an object.
Level 3

Student frequently looks at the audience and holds their attention.
Level 4

Student always looks at the audience never blocking his or her face and keeps the audience engaged throughout the presentation.
Persuades Audience
5 pts

Level 1

Student does little to persuade the audience to read the book.
Level 2

Student shows some excitement about the book and may have persuaded one other student to read the book.
Level 3

Student's enthusiasm for the book hooks the audience to read the book.
Level 4

Student's passion and enthusiasm for the book are contagious and makes the entire audience want to read the book and hear more.
Book Summary/Knowledge
5 pts

Level 1

Student does not have a grasp of information; student cannot answer questions about the book.
Level 2

Student is uncomfortable with information and isable to answer only basic questions.
Level 3

Student is at ease with answers to all questions, but does not elaborate.
Level 4

Students demonstrates full knowledge (more than required) by answering all class questions with full and detailed explanations.
