Nanotechnology (Model)
Nanotechnology (Model)
Students will build a detailed model of an idea proposed by nanotechnology scientists. Students are to include all major components of this idea in their model design, neatly labeling each aspect of the model in order to clearly communicate this idea. Creativity and sophistication is strongly encouraged. This model will be accompanied by an oral explanation to the class and teacher. Be sure the model is in finished form and accompanied by a poster board of textual descriptions.

Level 2
Does not clearly resemble the textual description. Similar materials and colors used for some parts.
Level 3
Somewhat resembles textual description, but not obvious without labels.
Level 4
All materials used resemble the textual description. Variety of materials used above what was required. Even without labels the model clearly communicates the idea.
Components
Level 1
Missing 3 or more major parts of the model.
Level 2
Some major parts present of the model. Missing 2.
Level 3
Most major parts of the model present. Missing 1.
Level 4
All major parts present.
Labels
Level 1
Components are not labeled or are simply labeled incorrectly.
Level 2
Some components are not labeled or are labeled incorrectly. Labels are messy.
Level 3
Most components are labeled or represented on a key. Labels are neat.
Level 4
All components are neatly labeled or represented on a key. Labels are neat and do not make model appear cluttered.
Presentation of Model
Level 1
Presentation includes a very incomplete and/or inaccurate explanation of the model/topic.
Level 2
Presentation includes a partial or vague explanation of the model/topic.
Level 3
Presentation is thorough, including a satisfactory explanation of the model/topic.
