Goals Essay 
Students were asked to construct an essay that discussed goals they had set for the first term. The students were asked to explain if they met their first term goals and if not why not? They are also asked to list new goals for the upcoming term.

Excellent 100-91

The student discusses each goal in detail with specific, believable strategies they'll use to accomplish their goals. Student uses excellent transition words/phrases and strong supporting details. List previous goals and provides evidence proving goals were met or not. Builds on previous goals to create new realistic goals. Includes opening paragraph, content of 2-3 well thought out detailed paragraphs and a conclusion.
Good 76-90

The student discusses each goal and has listed strategies they'll use to accomplish their goals. paragraphs sometimes include a topic sentence, transition words and strong supporting details. Recommend reviewing previous goals and listing why those goals were not accomplished. Use list to help create realistic goals and strategies to accomplish these goals. Has an intro paragraph followed by content and conclusion. Paragraphs needed more meaningful content.
Fair 75-65

The student discusses the goals but has vague or unbelievable strategies they'll use to accomplish them. There are few transition words/supporting details. Goals are not thought well thought out and organized with a plan on how to achieve these goals.
Recommend reviewing previous goals and listing why those goals were not accomplished. Use list to help create realistic goals and strategies to accomplish these goals. Does not have a well structured essay.
Poor 64-below

The student mentions the goals but has few strategies they'll use to accomplish them. The student rarely uses transition words or supporting details. Student does not reflect or use previous goals as a learning experience. Fails to explain why goals that were set before were not achieved. Does not have a well structured essay
