Goals Essay Students were asked to construct an essay that discussed 3 goals they had for the school year (a school related goal, ELA goal and a personal goal). The students were asked to write persuasively so that their peers would believe that their goals could be accomplished. Organization	Excellent 100-90 The student's essay is very well organized. Each idea is contained in its own paragraph and includes a topic sentence.	Good 75-89.9 The student's essay is somewhat organized. Some ideas seem out of place.	Fair 74.9-65 The student's essay is poorly organized. Similar ideas are not contained in the same paragraph.	Poor 64.9-below The student's ideas seem to be randomly arranged and there is little to no evidence of structure.
Content	Excellent 100-90 The student discusses each goal in detail with specific, believable strategies they'll use to accomplish their goals. Student uses excellent transition words/phrases and strong supporting details.	Good 75-89.9 The student discusses each goal and has listed strategies they'll use to accomplish their goals. paragraphs sometimes include a topic sentence, transition words and strong supporting details.	Fair 74.9-65 The student discusses the goals but has vague or unbelievable strategies they'll use to accomplish them. There are few transition words/supporting details.	Poor 64.9-below The student mentions the goals but has few strategies they'll use to accomplish them. The student rarely uses transition words or supporting details.
Mechanics/Neatness	Excellent 100-90 The student's paper is neat and has little to no spelling/grammatical errors.
