Content	Poor The author has no real purpose.	Fair Author has purpose that is unclear.	Very Good Story lacks creativity Author has purpose that is unclear or too broad.	Excellent Story is creative. Story has a clear purpose/ moral/ or lesson.
Illustrations	Poor There are pictures missing. The pages are incomplete.	Fair The illustrations do not relate to the words on each page and do not follow a logical and sequential order. The illustrations do not enhance the page or appearance of the story.	Very Good The illustrations may relate to the words on the page, but are slightly out of order. The illustrations mostly fill the page and are appropriate for the text.	Excellent The illustrations directly relate to the words on the page and they are presented in a logical and sequential order that helps the reader understand the story. The illustrations are very appropriate for the page both in size and text.
