Black History Month Comparative Opinion Essay 
Students will research the lives of African Americans who have made special contributions to American life and society. Students will use biographical information to highlight each person’s contribution. Students’ writing will include a comparative opinion piece that demonstrates how we honor our past, celebrate our present and embrace our future. In addition, student will include a picture of each subject and one of themselves as they create a mini-monument to add to their writing piece.
