Model: Operation
Does not meet expectations
No wiring included in the model or no model included.
Approaching expectations
Wiring does not work.
Minimally meets expectations
Wiring either works intermittently or is working only on part of the circuit.
Meets expectations
Wiring is complete and working.
Exceeds expectations
Wiring is complete, working, and tidy. Switches are easy to operate and are model sized.
Model: Circuit
Does not meet expectations
No circuit included in the model or no model included.
Approaching expectations
Model wired using a series circuit. No switches are included.
Minimally meets expectations
Model is wired using a parallel circuit. Two devices are controlled by one switch and are on the same pathway on the circuit.
Meets expectations
Model is wired using a parallel circuit. Two devices are controlled by two switches and are on different pathways on the circuit.
Exceeds expectations
Model is wired using a parallel circuit. Three or more devices are controlled by switch for each device and are on several pathways on the circuit.
Model: Appearance
Does not meet expectations
No model included
Approaching expectations
The model is very messy and carelessy constructed. Has only one bedroom model item. Model is either far too large or far too small.
Minimally meets expectations
The model is somewhat messy. Looks like it is thrown together and little time put into the project. Items are not glued. Can see tape. Has two or three bedroom model items.
Meets expectations
The display looks as if time was taken to complete. Items are glued and tape is hidden. Has at least four bedroom model items. Model is a good size.
Exceeds expectations
Model was created with great care and attention. No major mistakes in coloring, cutting, gluing, or taping. Has 6 or more bedroom model items. Walls are coloured and decorated. All parts of the model are proprotionally sized.
Poster:Written Information
Does not meet expectations
No written content included
Approaching expectations
Is missing one of the written content areas (circuit explanation and electrical flow explanation), is weak in both areas, or information is plagiarised.
Minimally meets expectations
Includes description in student's own words of both the written content areas (circuit explanation and electrical flow explanation), but the explanation is lacking detail.
Meets expectations
Includes adequately detailed description in student's own words of both the written content areas (circuit explanation and electrical flow explanation).
Exceeds expectations
Includes thorough, detailed information both of the written content areas (circuit explanation and electrical flow explanation) that goes beyond what is included in the textbook. May also include detailed information on electricity, electrical sources, electrical devices, etc.
Poster: Data Illustrations/Tables
Does not meet expectations
No diagram included
Approaching expectations
Student provided one small diagram that did not match the model.
Minimally meets expectations
Student provided one diagram. Diagram may be incomplete, unclear in displaying the circuit, or not using the proper symbols. Diagram messily attached to poster.
Meets expectations
Student provided one circuit diagram. Diagram uses proper symbols and includes a symbol key. Diagram accurately shows the circuit used in the model. Diagram neatly attached to poster.
Exceeds expectations
Student provided two or more illustrations and/or diagrams showing great detail. Diagrams are neat, tidy, and thorough. Diagrams and illustrations neatly attached to poster.
Poster: Appearance and Conventions
Does not meet expectations
No poster included
Approaching expectations
Poster lacks neatness and organisation. Missing two or more of the following elements: title, name, division. Has several spelling/grammar errors. Appears student ran out of time.
Minimally meets expectations
Poster is somewhat messy. Missing one of the following elements: title, name, division. Has three to five spelling/grammar errors. Appears as though student rushed to finish.
Meets expectations
Poster is tidy and organised. Contains the following elements: title, name, division. Has one or two spelling/grammar errors. Appears student spent adequate time creating poster.
Exceeds expectations

Use of class time
Does not meet expectations
No class time used; had to be removed from classroom to prevent student from distracting others.
Approaching expectations
Wasted most of class time; consistently off-task; usually came to class without materials
Minimally meets expectations
Much of class time was wasted; usually off-task; frequently came to class unprepared to work
Meets expectations
Some class time wasted; usually on-task; occasionally forgot materials or needed to retrieve supplies from locker
Exceeds expectations
