RAFT
	Secure 25 pts	Developing 20 pts	Beginning 15 pts
Content	Secure Answer clearly shows understanding of reading content by using multiple, relevant "for examples," cited events from the story throughout the reading.	Developing Answer shows some understanding by providing some un-cited details or examples from the reading.	Beginning Answer shows limited or no understanding with little or no details or examples from the reading.
RAFT Format	Secure Student follows RAFT by designing a piece(s) that make(s) evident the role, audience, and topic. The RAFT develops the topic.	Developing Student follows RAFT by properly identifying role, audience, and topic. The RAFT either retells the story without developing the topic.	Beginning Student presents a RAFT that does not clearly identify a role, audience or topic. Coverage of the topic is insufficient.
Organization	Secure RAFT demonstrates appropriate organization as applied to the selected format. Content is organized in logical order.	Developing The format choice is not clear and/or not developed. Content is not well organized.	Beginning The format is not developed and the content is insufficient to meet content goals.
GUMS	Secure The RAFT contains no errors in usage, spelling, or other grammatical or mechanical errors.	Developing The RAFT contains minor errors which detract from the overall quality of the work.	Beginning The RAFT has many (6+) errors which make reading and comprehending the report difficult.
