Content & Development 10 points	Excellent - Content is comprehensive, accurate, and persuasive. - Major points are stated clearly and are well supported. - Research is thorough and helps support student theory. - Content and purpose of the writing are well developed.	Good -Content is somewhat comprehensive, accurate, and persuasive. - Major points are stated and supported. -Research is adequate and helps support student theory. - Content and purpose of the writing are clear.	Fair - Content is not comprehensive and /or persuasive. - Major points are addressed, but not well supported. - Research is inadequate or does not support student theory. - Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose and clarity of thought.	Poor - Content is incomplete. - Major points are not clear and /or persuasive.
Organization & Structure 5 points	Excellent - Structure of the paragraph is clear and easy to follow.	Good -Organization of paper is less clear and not as easy to follow.	Fair - Structure of the paragraph is not easy to follow. - Paragraph transitions need improvement.	Poor - Organization and structure detract from the message of the writer. - Paragraph is disjointed and lack transition of thoughts.
Mechanics and Usage 5 points	Excellent -Paper has 0-3 errrors in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraphing, and/or subject-verb aggreement.	Good -Paper has 4-6 errors in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraphing, and/or subject-verb agreement.	Fair - Paper has 7-9 errors in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraphing, and/or subject-verb agreement.	Poor - Paper has 10 or more errors in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraphing, and/or subject-verb agreement.
