Diary Book Report
Write a diary/journal that one of the story’s main characters might have kept before during the events of the book. Remember that the character’s thoughts and feelings are very important in a diary. There must be an entry after the first chapter, a middle chapter and the last chapter. Pre-Ap Students will write 2 additional entries.

Entries are, not titled, or not in sequential order. Entries are a little messy but readable.

Entries are hard to read. Reader is confused about the sequence of the story.

Each entry is clearly explained. You state not only what is happening, but what the character is feeling at the time. The reader clearly understands the importance of the passage and is able to understand what is going on in the story by the journal entry.
Fair
Most entries are explained, you state not only what is happening, but what the character is feeling at the time. The reader can understand the importance of the story.
Poor
Some entries are explained some inferred how the character is feeling and you stated what is happening n the story.
Needs work
The entry is confusing, you aren't sure what is happening in the story, you do not share the feelings of the character or do not tell what is happening in the story.
Grammer

There are no grammatical errors. Words are used and spelled correctly. Paragraphs are used correctly and sentence structure is correct.
Fair
There are only one or two grammatical errors. Words are used and spelled correctly, sentence structure and paragraph structure are correct.
Poor
There are only three grammatical errors. Words are used and spelled correctly, sentence structure and paragraph structure are correct.
Needs work
The paper is full of grammatical errors, student did not use proper sentence or paragraph structure.
