Content Student utilizes resources provided as well a prior knowledge about the topic. Student is able to explain their answer in detail.	Poor Content hardly evident in answer, resources are poorly referenced.	Adequate Answer includes content, but lacks depth and detail associated with the resources and prior knowledge.	Distinguished Answer is rich in detail, utilizes resources effectively and exhibits prior knowledge through out answer.
Data Analysis Student accurately represents data provided in their answer. Being aware to identify the issues that the scientists have addressed.	Poor Fails to identify the issue outlined in the study and misrepresents the facts presented.	Adequate Overall presentation of the data is correct and the issues noted in the study are evident.	Distinguished Effectively outlines the issue presented in the study, correctly utilizing the data provided as well as using prior knowledge.
Claim Student is able to make a clear and concise claim backed by evidence provided.	Poor Student is unable to make an informed claim based on the resources.	Adequate Claim is substantial, but isn't entirely backed by data provided or it isn't entirely evident throughout the answer.	Distinguished Claim is entirely backed by evidence and prior knowledge. It is clear and concise and evident throughout the entirety of the answer
Sources Student utilizes informed resources that have sound scientific backing	Poor Student doesn't reference scientific sources.	Adequate Most of the sources referenced have a strong scientific background.	Distinguished All cited sources are of a strong scientific background.
