Our Garden of Writing NYU Lincoln Elementary Garden Project Students of Kindergarten NYU will be allowed to work together in a plant unit to understand plants are living things and help us breath and are an intricate part of our environment. Planting a Garden

Group Participation & Team Work 5 pts Participated and shared ideas with others.	Poor Did not participate in group work or observations.	Fair Contributed to small portion of the project; other group members contributed more.	Good Group participation was good, but lacking enthusiasm to contribute.	Excellent Attempted to lead the group at times; enthusiasm was evident throughout project.
One-Page Report 5 pts Each student will write a report on their experience in the garden project.	Poor Student did not complete this portion of the project, or turned in a report that was less than one page and demonstrated little knowledge of the plant types. Contained five or more spelling or grammatical errors.	Fair Student's report was less than one page and included some knowledge of the plant types and how to care for them. Less than five grammatical or spelling errors.	Good Student's report was one page; demonstrated adequate knowledge of the plant types and how to care for them. Contained three or four grammatical or spelling errors.	Excellent Student's report was one page or more; listed all of the conditions in which their plant types thrive and the proper ways <BR> to take care of them. Contains no more than three grammatical errors.
Planting Process 5 pts Students observed and wrote about their observations when a plant was cut in half.	Poor Student demonstrated knowledge of one of the four steps of planting seeds.	Fair Student demonstrated knowledge of two of the four steps of planting seeds.	Good Student demonstrated knowledge of three of the four steps of planting seeds.	Excellent Student demonstrated knowledge four out of the four steps of planting seeds.
Fiction 5 pts Students will write about an imaginary seed and what they would grow.	Poor Student did not write about a magic seed.	Fair Student wrote a few things about the seed but the story did not make sense.	Good Student wrote a great story but conventions of writing were not followed.	Excellent Students wrote a great story and followed all the conventions of writing.
