Basic Requirements Basic requirements of the project including length, format of paper, font size, margins, planning outline.	Poor Paper is not long enough, or Paper does not follow format guidelines as far as font, font size, margins	Fair Paper is long enough but does not follow some format guidelines; or Paper follows some format guidelines but is not long enough.	Good Paper meets length and format guidelines	Exemplary Paper appropriately goes beyond required length and format guidelines with attention to pleasing presentation and style.
Content Quality, Accuracy and and breadth of topic information.	Poor Information is minimal, or contains many inaccuracies, or contians incomplete content.	Fair Information lacks some depth, or some inaccuracies or misses some important aspect of information.	Good Information meets expectations of quality, accuracy and breadth of information required for grade level and project depth.	Exemplary Information exceeds basic facts, contains a wide variety of related information and refers to a large variety of verifiable sources.
Mechanics Grammar, Spelling, punctuation, and capitalization	Poor Contains many errors in grammar, or spelling, or punctuation or capitalization.	Fair Contains more than 5 errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation or capitalization.	Good Contains no more than two errors in grammar, spelling, puncutation or capitalization.	Exemplary Contains no errors.
References Bibliography, references, citations and indexes	Poor Does not contain the required number of references, or does not contain required citations or does not contain index, if required.	Fair Contains bibliographic references, but bibliographic form is incorrect or donaints some references, but not the required number.	Good Contains required number of references in the required categories and bibliographic information is in correct form. If required, index is provided.	Exemplary Contains references beyond the required number, in the correct form. References are from a wide variety of sources. Index is well-developed.
