Self Portraits
	Exceeding 4 pts	Accomplished 3 pts	Developing 2 pts	Emerging 1 pts
Features	Exceeding Portrait is VERY carefully drawn; All features (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, hair, ears) drawn in correct proportion and the portrait LOOKS VERY MUCH LIKE THE ARTIST.	Accomplished Portrait is carefully drawn, has all features (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, hair, ears) in correct proportion.	Developing Portrait lacks features (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, hair, and ears), or features are drawn out of proportion.	Emerging Does not finish the self portrait, or rushes at the end to get it done. Much detail is missing.
Composition/Proportion	Exceeding All facial features are DRAWN WITH CARE. All facial features are complete and detailed due to careful observation (with mirror).	Accomplished Most of the facial features are complete with some detail. Some observational skills are evident with mirror.	Developing Facial features are too small or too large. Some features (ears, eyebrows) are missing or not evident. Little observation was done with mirror.	Emerging Unfinished or unsatisfactory. Most of the features are unrecognizable. No observation done with mirror.
Competency/Color Shading	Exceeding GREAT understanding of drawing a human head. Color and shading is exceptional (head, neck, and shoulders are three dimensional), and portrait looks VERY MUCH like the artist.	Accomplished Understanding of the "rules" of drawing a human head are apparent. Color and shading is used correctly, and features are proportional to the size of the head.	Developing Lack of understanding of the "rules" of drawing/ coloring a human head. Features are not in the right spots, and/or are not drawn in proportion to the size of the head. Color and value is used sporadically.	Emerging Unfinished or unsatisfactory. Most features are not recognizable. Color and value is incorrect or incomplete.
Craftsmanship	Exceeding The materials are used and applied VERY skillfully.	Accomplished The student uses and applies the materials appropriately.	Developing The use of materials and application is basic.	Emerging Materials and techniques incorrectly used.
Effort	Exceeding Class time is used VERY WELL Respect to fellow students, the teacher, and materials is VERY evident throughout the entire class.	Accomplished The project is finished in the class time allowed. The student works well.	Developing Class time is NOT USED WELL. Student is often off task and not respectful of fellow students, the teacher, and/or materials.	Emerging Little or no effort for this project demonstrated.
