Food Chain Assessment Food Chain Assessment Students will create a diorama of their favorite animal and a food chain they belong to. The food chain should show the proper order of the flow of energy beginning with the sun, then to the producer, and onto three consumers. Students will label the animals on the back "producers, consumers, or decomposers" and write where they get their energy from. Food Chain
	Excellent 4 pts	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
Organization	Excellent Food chain is well-organized and easy to follow and shows understanding.	Good Food chain is somewhat well-organized and challenging to follow and shows some understanding.	Fair Food chain lacks organization and is very difficult to follow and shows poor understanding.	Poor Food chain has no organization except for 1 or 2 positions and shows little to no understanding.
Labeling	Excellent Each animal is properly labeled on the back indicating if the organism is a producer or consumer, a carnivore, herbivore, omnivore, and where it gets its energy from.	Good Each animal is somewhat properly labeled on the back indicating if the organism is a producer or consumer, a carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore, and where it gets its energy from.	Fair Animal labels are incomplete and it's missing information on where animals get their energy from.	Poor Labeling and descriptions are missing.
The Sun	Excellent The Sun is accurately shown to be the original source of energy for all living beings and is at the beginning of the food chain.	Good The Sun is shown to be the source of energy for all living beings and is close to the beginning of the food chain.	Fair The Sun is shown as part of the food chain.	Poor The Sun is not in the food chain.
