Good Student indentifies the issue in the current event. Student summarizes and paraphrases the main topic in the article. Who, what, when, where, and how.
Significance	Poor Student does not explain the importance of the situation of the article.	Fair Student shows basic understanding of the importance of the situation in the article.	Good Students shows deep understanding of the importance of the situation and how it affects other events.
Connection	Poor Student makes no connection to the class, themselves, or the world.	Fair Student makes a basic connection to the class.	Good Student makes insightful connection to the class topics, world, or themselves. Student thoughtfully analyzes this connection.
Opinion	Poor Student does not offer their own opinion on the article.	Fair Student offers a basic agree or disagree opinion.	Good Student thoughtfully analyzes how they feel about the topic in the article.
