This rubric grades my 3rd grade students on their journal entries, and their final piece of artwork that is related to the book, Journey by Aaron Becker.

Journal entries show little thought and effort. The student uses some improper grammar, with more than a few spelling errors. One paragraph at the most is written for each entry.

Student exhibits effort and organization in their piece, and represents the elements of art frequently and correctly. More than 5+ elements are present in the piece and clearly state the artists' meaning.
Good
Student exhibits effort and organization in their piece, and represents a couple elements of art, correctly. More than 3+ elements are present in the piece, and states the artists' meaning.
Fair
Student exhibits minimal effort and organization in their piece, and represents only a few of the elements of art correctly. Less than 3+ elements are present in the piece, and does not clearly state the artists' meaning.
Participation
Excellent
Student actively participates when required. Shows interest and maintains attention and focus on the task at hand. The student even assists other students when necessary.
Good
Student participates when required. Shows some interest and mostly maintains attention and focus on the task at hand. The student helps other students if needed.
Fair
Student rarely participates. Shows little interest and lacks attention and focus on the task at hand. The student socializes minimally with others.
