Class Participation Grade
Below is a chart that shows you exactly how your class participation is assessed. Forms of participation other than participating in class discussion (although this is a primary form of participation) include coming to me for extra help, giving other students feedback in class, writing and taking notes, active listening, and writing in your journals, handouts, and annotating texts.

Journals of good quality and level of commitment are more than 2 pages and handed in each Thursday.

All but one journal is handed in on time.

Journals don't show commitment or don't come in as scheduled.

Each of Three Weekly Projects is done with attention to detail, and creative enthusiasm.

Student rarely participates in class, struggles with pair/group discussions. Not much writing is done, so it's hard to tell.

Student never participates in class, does not participate in pair/group discussions. Writing is not generated.
PREPARATION
Excellent
EXCELLENT<BR>
Student is always prepared for class with assignments and required materials punctually. Work in done on time.

Student is usually prepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late.
