Face Jug Face Jug Using the concept of Appalachian Face Jugs, students will create a ceramic mug using slab construction techniques. Facial features will then be applied. Understanding	Good The project was planned carefully; final face jug shows an understanding of all instructions and concepts. Face jug includes all required elements, including a handle.	Fair The project was planned carefully; final face jug shows an understanding of most concepts and instructions. Face jug may be missing some required elements, such as a handle.	Incomplete (Poor) The project shows little to no planning and/or understanding of the concepts and instructions given. Face jug is missing many or all of the required elements.
Skill/Craftsmanship	Good The project shows outstanding skill with clear attention to detail and proper use of materials. Craftsmanship is excellent, with great care taken in design and construction.	Fair The project shows a fair amount of skill, with some attention to detail and proper use of materials. Overall, craftsmanship is fair, with care taken in most of the design and construction.	Incomplete (Poor) The project shows below average skill or no skill. Little to no attention to detail has been made. Materials were not properly used. Little care was taken in the design and construction.
Glaze	Good The glaze application is very neat and even. No bare clay spots are evident.	Fair Not enough coats of glaze were applied. Areas are still transparent. The application of glaze is choppy and could have been put on more evenly.	Incomplete (Poor) The glaze was applied very fast and does not look intentional. Messy application looks unfinished.
Effort	Good The student made an excellent effort to complete the project to the very best of their ability.	Fair The student put forth a good effort to complete the project well.	Incomplete (Poor) The student made little to no effort to complete the project.
Work Attitude	Good Student was totally engaged in the project and very enthusiastic about working on it.	Fair Student was enthusiastic about the project and enjoyed the process of working on it.	Incomplete (Poor) Student was bored and apathetic about the project.
