Use of Evidence	Poor Little to no references to the text to back up their own thoughts or incorrect use of references.	Fair References the text with some errors that provide clear examples that explain or support their thoughts about the text.	Good Cites references to the text with few or no errors that explain or support their thoughts about the text.	Great Cites references with no errors in a way that both explains their thoughts and expands upon their own ideas.
Spelling and Grammar	Poor Reflection has many mistakes that were not corrected and make the text un-readable and/or did not use the key words from the text.	Fair Reflection has some oversights that make the reflection difficult to read even after correction, but included key words from the text.	Good Few or no spelling mistakes and correct use of the key words from the text.	Great Advanced use of vocabulary and grammar, along with key words from the text, that demonstrates an advanced proficiency in language.
Understanding	Poor Reflection does not show student has read the text.	Fair Reflection shows that student may have understood some concepts from the text, but missed several main ideas.	Good Reflection demonstrates that the student understood all main ideas conveyed by the text.	Great Reflection shows that student has read the text, understood the main ideas, and connected it to previous readings and greater historical context.
