iRubric: Leading a Class Discussion rubric

Disorganized. Questions did not build on each other, nor was there a logical progression that could be perceived.

Somewhat organized. Led class to a basic understanding of the text/issue, though the progression was not always clear.

Well-organized. Questions and presentation led class to a good understanding of the text/issue, but some portions of the discussion might have been better placed.

Very well-organized. Discussion questions and presentation built on each other to lead class progressively to an in-depth understanding of the text/issue.

Leader does very little to promote discussion. Either participants are completely unengaged or have taken over the discussion. There was not summary of discussion or the summary was insufficient.

Leader engages students slightly, or doesn't really lead. Other group members may dominate the discussion. Leader may not promote the discussion of others or does not take a leadership role. Summary of discussion was lacking.

Leader engages students and encourages all students to contribute to discussion but may slightly dominate the discussion or may not promote the discussion of different points of view. Summary of discussion was performed well.
