Historical Figure Monologue 
Students must write an informative monologue and perform. The monologue must be about one of the selected historical figures. Historical accuracy is required. Students should dress in character and include props. Memorization is a plus.

Dramatic Presentation

Level 1

The student displayed little to no performance techniques which did not at all go well with their monologue.
Level 2

The student displayed some performance techniques which sometimes went well with their monologue.
Level 3

The student displayed excellent performance techniques which went well with their monologue. They were in costume, had props, and stayed mostly in character.
Level 4

Same as level 3, but memorized.

Always in character.
Oral Presentation

Level 1

Student did not get in to character at all, read from notes, not prepared.
Level 2

Student spoke in a quiet voice, and there was a lack of interest and enthusiasm. Needs more eye contact and knowledge of content.
Level 3

Student spoke in a clear and loud voice, with interest and enthusiasm. They used eye contact, were prepared, and had knowledge of the content.
Level 4

Fulfilled all of the level three criteria plus had a clear understanding of the topic, used props, memorized the content, held the attention of the audience and/or included audience participation.
Historical Content

Level 1

Little historical relevance. More research needed.
Level 2

Too much emphasis on personal life and not enough on political life and significance to Canadian history.
Level 3

Explains the significance to Canadian history.
Level 4

Detailed explanation of significance to Canadian history. Thoroughly researched using more than one source.
