Creative Writing Creative Writing This assignment integrates use of the computer lab with basic writing skills. The student is to write a one page story in Microsoft Word. Attached to the paper should be an illustration (graphic image either created by student or copied from internet source) related to the story. Criteria

Creativity Writer uses original ideas that are interesting to the reader.	Poor Lack of basic story line. Needs more detail or plot to make it interesting.	Fair Fairly original and interesting.	Good Very original and interesting.
Use of computer skills. Correct layout of paper. Paper should have 1 inch margins on each edge of paper. 12 Times New Roman font, be double spaced, with centered title that has been made bold.	Poor Did not follow most directions concerning formatting of paper.	Fair Followed most of directions for formatting of paper.	Good Followed all directions for formatting of paper.
Illustration Illustration relates to story, Should take up most of page and be centered.	Poor Illustration is not related, and it is not centered, and covers less than 50% of page.	Fair Illustration is not related or image is not centered or takes up <50% of page.	Good Illustration is obviously related to story. It is centered and takes up > than 50% of the paper.
Composition Correct use of grammar and spelling.	Poor Many (>10)spelling and grammatical errors.	Fair Some (4-9) spelling and grammatical errors.	Good Few (0-3) Spelling and grammatical errors.
