Some facts are interwoven into your writing and they are accurate to the time period. Your writing demonstrates that you have some knowledge of the time period.	Fair A time period or historical event is mentioned in your writing, but not connected to any other events or facts. It is not evident that you understand the historical time period you talk about.	Poor You did not include any reference to historical time periods or events/OR your time periods and facts are incorrect.
Writing Clarity	Excellent Your writing stays on topic and makes sense. You have included 4 or more transition words. All paragraphs are complete in their information and include many details from the novel that show your knowledge of the novel.	Good Your writing stays on topic and makes sense. You have used 3-4 transition words. Paragraphs are complete in their information but need more details from the novel to show your knowledge of the novel.	Fair Your writing does not stay on topic through out the paragraphs. You have used 1-3 transition words. Paragraphs are in need of details from the novel.	Poor The main idea of the writing piece is unclear. You have used no transition words. Your paragraphs are incomplete and have little to no details from the novel.
Editing	Excellent No grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors are present in your writing.	Good Two or less grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors are present in your writing.	Fair Less than 7 grammatical, spelling or punctuation errors are present in your writing.	Poor There are more than 7 editing errors in your writing.
