Electric House Assessment Project
Students will be assessed on the following criteria learned in class: Wiring a series and parallel circuits, explain whether it is a alternating or direct current. Illustrate a flow of electric charges and conventional flow of current, calculate the amount of current and resistance in the series and parallel circuit from a schematic design of each circuit.

Circuit Diagram Blueprint
Emerging
The blueprint includes an unclear front design location of switches and lighting in each of the rooms.
Blueprint does not resemble the layout of the of the house.
Plan is not illustrated.
Proficient
The blueprint include a illustrated front design location of switches and lighting in each of the rooms. Switches and lighting are lighting are labeled in each room.
Location of furniture is included.
Blueprint is similar to layout of the house except 1-2 differences in furniture or location of lighting and switch.
Exceeds
The blueprint include a neatly illustrated front design location of switches and lighting in each of the rooms. Switches and lighting are labeled in each room
Location of furniture is also included and is labeled.
Blueprint is nearly identical to layout of house.
Wiring
Emerging
Series and Parallel Circuit: between the two circuits, there is a total of 5 lights. Each circuit has a switch. Switch turns on lights when activated.
Neither the series and parallel circuits do not depict an accurate wiring of a schematic diagram.
Wiring in the back is messy, but is taped to a battery source.
Proficient
Series and Parallel Circuit: between the two circuits, there is a total of 5 lights.
Each circuit is wired neatly. At least one of the circuits depicts a schematic diagram of a series or parallel circuit is wired correctly.
All wires are taped neatly down in the back or side, and wires are neatly taped to a battery source.
Exceeds
Series and Parallel Circuit: between the two circuits, there is a total of 5 lights.
Each circuit is wired neatly. Series circuit wires correctly depicts the schematic diagram of a series circuit, and a parallel circuit wires depicts a schematic diagram of a parallel circuit.
All wires are taped neatly down in the back or side, and wires are neatly taped to a battery source.
Alternative Energy Source
Emerging
Alternative energy source is attached to a circuit but provides insufficient electrical energy to illuminate the bulb(s).
Alternative energy source is not attached to
a circuit.
Proficient
Alternative energy source is attached to a circuit and provides sufficient electrical energy to illuminate the bulb(s).
Exceeds
Alternative energy source is attached to a circuit and provides abundant electrical energy to illuminate the bulb(s) brightly.
Functionality of Lights
Emerging
Each room has a switch that operates the series and parallel circuit.
One of the switches turn on the lights for either the series or parallel circuit when the circuit is closed.
One circuit of lights are functional and lit when switch is operated to turn on the series or parallel circuit.
Proficient
Each room has a switch that operates the series and parallel circuit.
Both switches turn on lights for each circuit when the circuit is closed. All lights are fully functional and lit when switches are operated to turn on the series and parallel circuit.
Exceeds
Each room has a switch that operates the series and parallel circuit.
Both switches turn on lights for each circuit when the circuit is closed. All lights are fully functional and brightly when switches are operated to turn on the series and parallel circuit.
Overall Product
Emerging
Electric house is emerging in progress.
It is lacking several components to make this house functional and meet the necessary criteria for proficiency.
Proficient
Electric house has met all requirements to make the house functional. It is neat in design, wiring, and alternative energy source.
Exceeds
Electric house has exceeded all requirements for completion. It is near perfect in wiring, light functionality, and alternative energy source. Extra accessories have been added to enhance the house.
