Content & Date Recording	Below Average - Content is incomplete. -Missing date on all pages.	Average - Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose and clarity of thought. -Date is inconsistently/ incorrectly written.	Excellent - Content and purpose of the writing are clear. -Date is correctly written at the top right hand corner of every page.
Writing Process	Below Average - Student only writes first draft of paper.	Average -Student writes first draft and final draft.	Excellent -Student uses the writing process for all parts of their journal entry.
Format/Grammar	Below Average - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. - Paragraph is inadequate/excessive in length.	Average - Paragraph contains few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. - Paragraph is slightly over/ under sentence length.	Excellent - Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct. - Paragraph is 5-7 complete sentences
