Includes only the information important to comparison & contrast.	Level 3 The essay: Compares and contrasts but the supporting information is general. Includes information that may not be important. Only 2 details given from both texts. Explains most details well.	Level 2 The essay: compares and/or contrasts, using 1 detail from both texts. OR the essay only compares or only contrasts. OR includes details but little explanation given.	Level 1 The essay: attempts to compare and/or contrast but includes very little detail and/or support of the details.
Format COMMUNICATION	Level 4 Essay breaks the information into the introduction, differences, similarities, or point-by-point structure, and conclusion.
