Upon completion of in-class practice of personification of inanimate objects and writing about it in the form of a story, the learner will be able to effectively write a story from the perspective of a classroom inanimate object.

Descriptive Restaurant Menu
Create a menu. You must give your restaurant a name and create the menu. The menu should include at least five complete choices for each of the sections of the menu: appetizers, entrees, kids menu and desserts. The menu should be visually pleasing with easily identifiable headings, prices, and pictures. Each food item must have 2-4 sentences with minimum of 4 adjectives each.

Speech
Students will compose a speech as one of the characters from one of the epics that we are studying (Beowulf, The Iliad, and The Odyssey). Student’s speeches must have a theme or focus that is relevant to the epic they choose. Themes must be reinforced throughout the speech and the climax of the speech must be both intriguing and thought provoking. Students will be graded on theme, theme reinforcing methods, and the strength of the climax of the speech.

Comic Life Project
Here are some criteria and suggestions for the comic strip: Think of a story line before you do anything else. Planning is important. Write a title for your comic strip. Have a main character. Make at least five pictures or scenes. Include your vocabulary words. Include at least 5. Make sure that your pictures and actions make sense with your chosen vocabulary words.

5th Grade Movement Composition
Students are to create a movement routine in partners that shows a minimum of 7 different movements, as well as responding to the music heard in the song. The routine needs to have two different, but noticeable, movement sections and a tableau pose for the ending. Students will apply the creative process to the composition of movement pieces, using the elements of exercise and music to communicate feelings (facial expression) and ideas.
