The purpose and objectives of Chicanos/ for Community Medicine (CCM) shall be: 1. To promote the development of a communication network for Chicano/Latino and other under represented minority pre-health students. 2. To promote Chicano/Latino and minority pre-health student interest that will lead to the improvement of health care for underserved communities in California and Baja California. 3. To facilitate educational programs of the recruitment and retention of under represented pre-health students in areas such as academic success, career opportunities and politics of medicine. 4. To encourage and expose pre-health students to community services and clinical experience. 5. To increase the access of medical care in under served communities. 6. To provide an environment that supports the creative ideas of physicians-in-training. 7. To maintain its status as an independent organization. 8. To maintain its primary identity as an organization for minority physicians-in-training. 9. To be financially independent and maintain a stable financial base. 10. To continue to develop health-care leadership. 11. To seek, develop and provide membership services to the physicians-in-training community. 12. To increases knowledge of health information among members and the general public. 13. To periodically re-evaluate the above purposes and ensure that they are carried out in a proper fashion.
