Philosophy of Education

I am very excited to become a teacher in the near future. Children are the most precious individuals on the planet, and I am eager to start teaching them as soon as I can. When I was in high school, I had one of the best teachers that I could ever imagine. His name is John Bittinger, and he is a science teacher. I am not very talented in science. In the two years that I spent with Mr. Bittinger, he taught me more about science than I ever thought I could remember. I passed both first year and advanced chemistry with good grades, and I also earned college credits for both classes. Mr. Bittinger is very good at recognizing each students' individual learning style, and he takes the time to help every student in his class in the way that they feel most comfortable with. He has inspired me to be as good of an educator as he is, because he is a very successful teacher.

I remember him as the teacher who made learning fun, and that is how I'd like to be remembered by my students. I want to teach first graders, who are typically excited about school for the mere reason that they get to have lunch in the cafeteria. Still, I want to introduce them to learning in a way that isn't boring so that they will be very excited about learning new things for the rest of their lives. Teachers are very important in showing their students a positive attitude towards learning, so that their students will have a positive attitude towards school and learning. School doesn't have to be boring, and I'm glad that I had a teacher that taught me advanced chemistry in a fun and memorable way.

Although there are many reasons that I desire to become a teacher, one of the main reasons is that I want to help my students through the many obstacles that they are bound to come across. Deaf children have a hard time in school if their teachers aren't willing to see how each individual student needs to be taught, and adapting their classroom rules and their lesson plans to meet those needs. I aspire to recognize every single student and help them to be the best student that they can be, simply by taking a few extra minutes to explain something that may be difficult or coming up with a special way to teach something that could be considered boring. If students are facing challenges outside of the classroom, it will be difficult to make the most of what you're teaching them in the classroom. I want to grasp my students in a way that they want to learn, despite what is going on elsewhere in their lives.
